Cavendish to join team Sky?

The UK Daily Mail has launched huge debate in road cycling circles by claiming that superstar sprinter Mark Cavendish will switch teams from HTC-Highroad to UK based Team Sky.
The move has been speculated since the genesis of Team Sky which has a specific goal of putting British riders on the top step of the podium.

Irizar wins in Andalucia for Radioshack

Team RadioShack’s Markel Irizar is the overall winner of the Vuelta a Andalucía (Ruta Ciclista del Sol). In the fifth and last stage to Antequera, the Basque rider kept his one second advantage over Belgian rider Jurgen Van den Broeck. Levi Leipheimer finished 3rd, 2 seconds behind.

Alberto Contador recieves one year ban

Saxo bank rider Alberto Contador has received a one year ban from the Spanish Cycling Federation for a positive test for Clenbuterol at the 2010 Tour de France. As a result he will be stripped of the title should an appeal be unsuccessful.

Leopard-Trek building a team

New Garmin-Cervelo kit

Dan Martin will be racing in a new strip in 2011 as Garmin-Transitions have merged with The Cervelo Test Team. The iconic Argyle design that has been present in the squad for years, has almost disappeared except for the collar and cuffs. The overall design is similar to the old Cervelo design.
