Leinster League XC kicks off this weekend

March 24th, 2010 · 2 Comments

The first round of the four race Leinster League series kicks off this weekend in Wexford with a new venue and a new organising club Racing 795.  Nestled close to Mount Leinster which saw a bike race of another kind last year, the Tour of Ireland, XC racers will be emulating their road cousins as the season kicks off.

The club have been working hard over the off season on the course and all reports have been very favourable.  We spoke to Niall Davis of Biking.ie who has ridden the course and he was very impressed.  The video above shows him riding sections of the course.  Only an hour from Dublin, don’t miss this race!

Directions -

Bunclody is easy to find on Google maps or SatNav, but it’s worth pointing out that the best route from Dublin and all points north is the M7/M9, and not the N11 unless you’re based in Wicklow.
Starting at the Red Cow follow the M7/M9 out of Dublin. When the M7 and M9 diverge be sure to keep left and take the M9 signposted Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny. Next take Junction 5 off the M9 signposted Carlow South/Rosslare/Enniscorthy. Keep left at the slipway roundabout.
You are now on the N80. Drive for 15-20 mins, passing through the village of Ballon. Driving down the hill into Bunclody take the right turn towards Mt Leinster opposite Supervalu. Race location is 5 km out this road at the first Coillte forest entrance.
