McCall CX National champion

February 9th, 2010 · No Comments

Joe McCall won his first Cyclocross Nationals on Sunday in a fast paced race in St Anne’s Park.  The experienced rider distanced second place by a full minute  in the race which lasted just over 1 hour.

Ryan Sherlock deservedly took second, fresh from a training camp in Gran Canaria and in only his first Cyclocross season.  Sherlock looked strong despite some mistakes and is looking like he is building form well ahead of the MTB season.  Third was Liam McCreevy in a strong performance.

The event began with a slightly chaotic start but quickly became a classic as several riders duelled it out.  Spectators thronged the course and at times m(if you squinted) you could almost think you were in Belgian at the heart of the cyclocross world as people barbecued on the side of the track and the crowd hooted and hollered.
