EXCLUSIVE - European Masters Ladies champion Maeve Baxter has signed to James O’Carrolls OC Tuning. 2009 was a superb season for the Rostrevor rider who built up on a silver medal at the same event in 2008 to take the top honours last year. She also was one of the featured riders in the ‘Break the cycle’ film.
Baxter will ride a Solid Mission 9 downhill bike equipped with Fox shocks front and rear. She presents an interesting challenge to Solid as she is a diminutive 5′2″ tall, too small for a standard small frame. A prototype frame specifically for her is already on the way from Germany though. If current results from other OC Tuning riders is anything to go by, then she will be even faster in 2010. Her new teammate Euan Doherty destroyed the opposition by 3.5 seconds to win at the Winter downhill race last Sunday on a Mission 9 and another teammate Rob Davis was fourth.
Indeed the OC Tuning team is one of the largest, if not the largest in the country with 7 riders now on the books. Watch out for them in 2010.
