Sidi are an Italian company renowned for making some of the best performance shoes in the industry. These Eagle 6 ones are no exception with an excellent stiff carbon fibre sole and comfortable fit, perhaps the most comfortable shoe we have ridden yet.

They feature a carbon sole running from the heel to the toe (with a small amount of flex in the toe area to prevent your foot going to sleep), two velcro straps and a ratchet closure system. Adjustment is very good and the velcro straps feature locking polymer teeth to prevent slippage. One of the great things about Sidi shoes is the availablility of spares. The grips on the sole are all replacable as is the ratchet, strap, heel cup, sole etc. This ensures that the shoe really will last a long time and they have stood up to all extremes of weather really well.

The only negative thing is the price but this is a case of you pay for what you get. In this case its (hold your breath) €315 but this shoe should last years and years.  Available from The Cycle Surgery at Snow & Rock in Dundrum Shopping Centre.
