Cannondale make great gear. They have been market leaders for a long time and now they are one of the leading green manufacturers. These bagy shorts are made from 30% recycled material using a fabric that uses polyesthelene terephthalate (PET) the polymer most commonly used in soft drink bottles and reprocesses them into yarn.

Cut just above the knee they feature a great mesh padded liner. Cannondale are legendary for their quality and comfort and these shorts do not disappoint. There are two hip pockets and two cargo pockets but we would have liked to see at least one fitted with a zip. Comfort wise these are spot on with velcro side panels to fine tune the waist instead of a belt. They have a great wicking ability and you feel like you are doing your bit for the environment too. Great stuff. RRP €66.95 available from Cycle Ways, Chain Reaction or your local Cannondale dealer.

I bought 3 pairs of shorts at one time: the previous version of the Cannondale Nebula; a nylon-shell Sugoi; and (expensive) Fox Sergeant shorts. The Cannondale shorts were clearly the best of the lot; they have the best crotch pad, and don’t catch on the seat like the Fox. The Fox shorts were clearly the worst of the three: the crotch pad is poor, and attaching the liner to the shell is difficult. The Sugoi shorts were so-so.
