Results XC NPS 5 Magheramorne

May 26th, 2009 · No Comments

Amid fantastic weather the 5th round of the Irish XC NPS took place last weekend in Magheramorne, near Larne.  The organising club, Madigan, did a great job with riders enjoying a thorough workout on the course.  Singletrack was the order of the day and despite recent atrocious weather by and large the track was in good condition.  Racing was fast and furious with groups forming and tactics coming into play.

The organisers utilised the Off Road Commission timing system and laptop for the Senior races with great success and print outs of the results were available immediately after the event.  In consultation with the Off Road Commission the decision was made to shorten the race by 1 lap for all senior categories about half an hour before the start which was a welcome decision for all concerned, given the damp nature of the course. Had it been dry the distance would have been correct.

Next weekend sees round 6 of the XC series in Lady Dixon Park in Belfast.  More details to follow.  We have learned that tthe Commission intend to trial a new timing chip system similar to what is used at World Cups at this event so all are encouraged to attend.  On line sign-on will be available shortly.
