February 28th, 2009 · No Comments

Round 1 of the Irish Cross Country NPS series will take place in a new venue- Rossacrue Woods, Kilgarvan, Co.Kerry on Sunday March 22nd.

NPS 1

Hosted by Killarney CC the club have been busy working on the track for the last few months clearing fallen trees, clearing singletrack sections and working on drainage.  The loop is approx. 5km in length composed of 2.5K fireroad with the remainder a mix of smooth fast singletrack and some further more technical singletrack.  Work is currently under way on an additional singletrack section which should be ready in time for the race.
The new Irish Off-Road Commission have been constantly in touch with the organisers to help with questions and queries and ensure that the event will be up to standard.  A good indication of things to come is in the basics as a portaloo will be available and tea/sambos served afterwards to refresh the riders before the road home!
