Contrary to popular belief, not all mountain bikers ride with suspension forks. Many purists prefer to ride with rigid forks enjoying the ride quality that comes from knowing you are completely in touch with the trail. Single speeders in particular seem to be focused on riding rigid and although it has been years since we rode a bike with rigid forks we still remember the buzz of having to really make the bike work with regard to route selection.
With this in mind Ritchey have developed a carbon rigid fork for mountain bikers. Available with either cantilever brake mounts or disk mounts the fork is incredibly light at only 465 grams. Thats about a sixth of even the most lightweight cross country fork so the weight savings are truly staggering.
Rigid forks are enjoying somewhat of a revival. At Eurobike we noticed a number of high end carbon hardtails equipped with them and they certainly were light. Designed for frames with geometry leaning towards an 80mm fork, it retails for about 520 euro.

I still ride my street/park/dirt jump bike with a rigid fork. It keeps the weight down, is less likely to brake and costs a lot less.
The dirt jumper forks from marzocchi I have for the dirt jumps are horrible on the street so the rigid forks are a happy medium.
