SRAM just sent us a box of goodies for review. Inside was the Rock Shox SID Team fork, Avid’s new Elixir R brakes and Truvativ’s Stylo 3.3 crankset.
Rock Shox SID Team
The Sid Team features Rock Shox’s Poploc remote handlebar lockout, compression and rebound damping and dual air (positive and negative) chambers. Its incredibly light too at 1485grams (3.27lbs) featuring SRAMs top Blackbox damping technology. This is the mid-range fork between the Race and World Cup forks. Previous editions of the SID fork were criticised for their flexy legs but the new SID features 32mm stanchions with carbon reinforcement called power bulges. The fork of choice of one Julian Absalon, we are expecting big things.
Avid Elixir R
Avid’s Elixir are a new brake system positioned between the Juicy and the Code and aimed towards the gravity market. However it is lighter than the XC orientated Juicy and features many new innovative features. There are two versions in the range the one we have (the R) and the CR which has a carbon lever. The R weighs a svelte 375 grams and promises amazing modulation.
Truvativ Stylo 3.3 crankset
Positioned just below the carbon XC Noir crankset, the Truvativ Stylo 3.3 is a light weight aluminium crankset. Our one came with the GXP bottom bracket which is incredibly lightweight.
All these products will shortly be in the field on test so we will let you know how we get on in due course. Stay tuned….
