For this edition of our expose series from Eurobike we decided to look at Look (sorry), Crank Brothers, Ritchey, Syncros, Stan’s No Tubes and Campagnolo(?).
Look
Looks 986 carbon hard tail was such a success that they have followed it up with a full sus - the Look 996.
Crank Brothers
These guys make some of the best pedals around but they are starting to get known for their wheelsets too. Last year they released the Cobalt XC wheelset in blue but they have followed it up with a new XC colour (champagne) and new All mountain, Freeride and Downhill wheels. We were particularly taken with the all mountain wheels available in either Burnt Orange or Iron.
Ritchey
Componant manufacturer Ritchey had lots of new products on display and among them was this rather nicec saddle the Biomax.
Syncros
Now owned by Ritchey, Syncros had lots of new stuff too including this new all mountain clipless pedal, the Traverse.
Stan’s No Tubes
We were really impressed with the range of products from Stan’s No Tubes including a road tubeless set with Hutchinsons tyres, the new Raven tyre and most off all the ZTR series wheelsets and rims. The new 7000 series tubeless rims are super light and the wheelset is lighter than most of the top price wheelsets available. They are surprisingly cheap too. The photo below includes the weight of the complete wheel (with American classic hubs and DT spokes) at 547grams for the front and 653grams for the rear. Apparantly they are hot property among the pros with certain top riders including World Champions using the wheels sans stickers wven though they are suposedly tied to other sponsors!
Campagnolo
Lastly, okay they don’t make MTB groupsets but Campagnolo had there new 11 speed rear cassette on display. The future?….
